Jar Planters

Jar Planters is used for container gardening — the practice of growing plants in containers instead of planting them in the ground. Container gardening helps reduce the risk of soil-borne diseases, weed problems, and is ideal for indoor gardeners who are low on space.

A hydroponic method known as the “Kratky Method” — a way of hydroponically growing your plants in a container without needing electricity, air stones, pumps, or anything else — is the ideal method for the Jar Planters. Kratky Method is the most passive hydroponic system out of all the hydroponic systems out there, making it the easiest way for beginners to start growing plants such as tomatoes or basil. To begin, all you need are nutrients, water, substrate (clay pebbles), Jar Planters, and light (Sunlight or indoor gardening lights).

Before upcycling them into Jar Planters, they were originally pasta sauce jars. The Jar was spray painted black to prevent light from penetrating, or else the the water mixed with nutrients exposed to light will develop algae. The lid was cut out to fit a net pot that has a diameter of 2 inches.
